Vance & Brandi's Community Support
Hello dear friends and family. As you all may know on August 4th, I (Vance) was in a terrible motorcycle accident as I was t-boned heading home from work. The impact to my left leg broke my femur in two locations, as well as fracturing my knee, pelvic, and puncturing my shin. I was thrown off my bike approximately 30 feet maybe more, which then gave me another fracture to my right shoulder and chipped my elbow. It was by far the scariest thing I have ever gone through. Although I had endured these terrible injuries, I have not a single doubt that God kept me safe and protected through it all as I did not take on one single life threatening injury. Even with my helmet and gear doctors were amazed that the force of the impact did not hurt my neck, spine or chest areas. After three successful surgeries at Lutheran General, I was finally on the road to recovery. With my loving wife Brandi at my side every hour and every day for the two weeks in the hospital we were both exhausted, but so excited to get home. Thinking the worse was behind us, we woke the morning of the last day in the hospital to the terrible news that the woman who hit me, had given insurance information that was not legit, and she was indeed uninsured. With my health insurance kicking in, my medical is still covered, but we now find ourselves in a place of new and more struggle. With no compensation from the responsible party, we will not be given anything to aid us with me not being able to work. As the outcome of pursuing her is unknown along with the time frame it will be before I am able to work again, we want to open this to you. A place we can receive help for the daily things like food, to the monthly things like our mortgage. Whatever you feel you can do is appreciated from the bottom of our hearts. We love you all and thank you for the support, love, and prayers you have already shown us. Note: I have set our goal based on my income along with the months I know I will be unable to work. But again anything and I mean anything is such a blessing.
