Vale de São Domingos

My name is Samuel! I live in the beautiful mountains of "Serra da Estrela" in a valley between two villages and close to the city of Covilhã. 
I lived almost my life here since i was born, when i married 8 years ago i went to live close to the sea and i started working in food business as salesman in the industrial intensive frozen meat, fish and dairy products business. After a travel to Africa "São Tomé e Príncipe " really poor country and my sons birth in 2012 i started to become more aware about environmental questions, sustainability, health, social equality, politics, animals welfare and so on. In 2014 on an international festival in Idanha a Nova called BOOM I was introduced to Permaculture in a musical lecture with the group "Formidable vegetable sounds ". After that i understanded that is possible doing it on a different way. I started to know more and more about and wanting to change my life according to the Permaculture principles and ethics, so in january 2016 i decided to quit my job and comeback to the place where i grew up to this valley to care a piece of land with almost 2 hectar that was abandoned during almost 30 years to start developing a project on this valley bringing back this place to be a place where people can develop their own activities sharing and cooperating with other people. During this last two years ive been volunteering in other projects to get more skills, create connections and get to know people that is doing good things to the world. Around this mountains im already connected with amazing projects, with like minded people and associated of an organic producers association. I rented a house in the valley that im compromised with the owner to buy in the future to be a place where people who wants to come, help and be with us developing this open place. This place comming to reality also is the result of group of friends that connected all their ideias to create the vision, mission and activities on the down description. The house is needing lots of things to be comfortable to people stay. Im here to ask you to fund us to we can buy construction materials to rebuild the house. The house is divided in 3 steps and on the first floor we have a broad room that we want to take the ciment from the walls to put the stones in cash, a new floor, new pipes in the kitchen, build forniture and fix the roof, buy equipments, fix the toilet. On the stairs to the 2 floor fix the walls, the stairs, build a forniture down the stairs. On the 2floor, a new floor, painting the walls and build wood fornitures. On the attic cover the roof with wood, cover the floor with wood, fix the toilet. Construction of a wood structure for the winter in the outside with a stove to warm up and fix the 2 floor kitchen roof.
