Give To Fight Brain Cancer

It's Christmas time everyone! As joyful and as exciting as this season will be, there's also a sense of sadness amongst me and my family.

This is our first Christmas without mom...

Mom LOVED Christmas. I remember growing up watching her carefully decorate the tree and the entire house with lights and all things that sparkle, bringing in more poinsettias than I thought could actually fit in a house, dressing the dining room table with the finest of Christmas-themed China, and creating a toy sized Christmas-town complete with snow and houses, and even a moving train. Every year mom would be performing in or conducting Handel's Messiah, and it became tradition that it was not Christmas "yet" until mom sang "Rejoice." Nobody did Christmas like Carla Jones. Nobody. As mom got sick and her health began to decline, our family did our best to keep her Christmas spirit alive, but we all knew it wasn't the same, and even worse, that things would never be the same.

Mom lost her battle with Brain Cancer on May 31st this year, and even though that was a few months ago, it seems that there's no end in sight for this grieving process. I wish it didn't take so long. I wish life had a Staples EASY button which could turn off emotions like grieving and essentially make life easier. I wish mom hadn't gotten sick in the first place and that she was still here with us. But this is real life, the Staples EASY button doesn't actually work, and whether we like it or not, mom is gone.

As sad as I am, and as much as I miss her, I know mom would not be pleased with my sulking, especially during Christmas-time. I know she would want me and my family to enjoy this time together, decorate, celebrate the birth of Jesus, sing songs, and exude joy just like she did while she was with us. And with that said, it's my intention to do not only that, but to share her joy for Christmas with everyone we know. This year, and hopefully each Christmas in the future, I will be hosting a donation drive in honor of my beautiful mom to go to Voices Against Brain Cancer, an organization who's mission is to aid in Brain Cancer Research and support caregivers, family members, and victims of this terrible disease. I encourage you all to make a donation, no matter how big or small. Your gift may save someone's life! At the end of the donation period (Christmas Eve) Heart's Content will present a check to Voices Against Brain Cancer in honor of my mom, Dr. Carla T. Jones. It would totally make my Christmas if you could help me raise money toward this great organization, and join me in the fight against Brain Cancer! When you make a donation, send me an email with your address and I will send you a small gift as a token of thanks for your generosity! Thank you all so much, and I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Season!!
