Greetings! My name is Annie Moua and I am a screenwriting major at Metropolitan State University. I am fundraising today to raise money to help pay for my airfare to Guadalajara, Mexico in order to attend the 2016 Guadalajara International Film Festival.
The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) is hosting their 31st Edition from March 4th, 2016 to March 15th, 2016. Each year FICG invites 30 students from various Universities around the world to come together to be a part of the Mezcal Student Jury. The purpose of the Mezcal Jury is to critique and select one film worthy to receive the Mezcal Best Mexican Film and $500,000.00 Mexican Pesos.
This year Metropolitan State University has been honored to receive an invitation from FICG to send a student to Guadalajara, Mexico to be a part of the FICG 2016 Mezcal Student Jury. My professors have honored me by selecting me to attend and represent Metropolitan State University at FICG.
FICG is generous enough to provide lodging and food for me while I attend but airfare is not included. I am hoping to raise enough money and reach my goal by the end of January 2016 in order to purchase my plane tickets in advance.
This opportunity is one that will not only last a lifetime but jumpstart my career as a screenwriter. I will not only be surrounded by people like-minded but I will get the opportunity to network with various professional directors, filmmakers, and producers. It is an experience that is not often presented to individuals and may never come again.
