Keith's NBA summer league journey

Friends,
As most of you know, and what I hope to be obvious, I love the game of basketball. I believe God gave me the gifts and talent for me to pursue the game I love, which is why I left my hometown, friends, family, and girlfriend to move to California to whole heartedly pursue my dream of playing in the NBA. I've had some success playing the game. It has taught me to be a better friend, family member, and Christian by teaching me the importance of knowing my role and how I interact and compliment the roles of people around me. My ability to play has earned me an education on full scholarship and allowed me to travel the world playing overseas. Basketball has always been a part of my life. It has taken me to my highest highs, like playing for the NAIA National Championship. It has helped me realize my lifelong dream of getting paid to play the game, and given me the honor of being selected to play for an NBA development team. It has also dealt  some crushing blows such as this fall when I broke my foot and was unable to take my shot playing for the NBA Development League team, The Iowa Energy. Basketball is my life. I live it everyday. Currently, I thankfully, am living in the spare bedroom/weight room of an assisted living facility that my uncle manages, but it doesn't bother me in the least because I'm living my basketball dream. Every day I wake up at 7am, eat, then head across town to the gym to meet with my trainer. He puts me through a tough strength and conditioning workout, followed up with footwork drills to help me move more efficiently on the court. When it's over I stretch, recover, and eat before my second workout of the day. This workout is strictly for developing basketball skills. I'm put through ball handling, balance, technique, defense, and shooting drills. When I'm done and able to catch my breath, I finish up with 20 minutes of yoga. All in all, I'm in the gym between 6 to 7 hours a day. I do this five days a week. By the time the weekend rolls around all I can do is eat and recover. But I am very proud to announce that my work and sacrifice are finally paying off in the biggest way. I have been recognized by some pretty cool folks who approached me and asked if I might like to give the NBA summer league a shot. I of course jumped at the opportunity! After the initial shock and excitement subsided, I realized that in order to play at this level, moving back home and working out on my own is simply not an option. I have enjoyed my time here in California and would love to continue developing my game. Which is why I now humbly ask for you to join me in this journey through your financial support. There are 15 weeks until the NBA summer league starts. My training costs $350 a week. So in total, It will cost $5,250 for me to train full time until the summer league starts. I know a lot of you are on a tight budget and may think that you can't make a difference. But I assure you, every dollar makes a difference and I will be sure to make it count! Please consider whatever you can afford, your generosity is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your ongoing love and support, I miss you all!
