Upward Stars Gainesville is changing the narrative and going against the cultural grain by declaring that there is more to sports than winning! The focus of clubs these days is all on winning tournaments, chasing trophies and scholarships, wearing name-brand apparel, and capitalizing financially at the expense of young athletes’ futures. Kids are getting burnt out and are more susceptible to injury because of specialization in one sport – this often causes them to quit sports altogether.

Yes, our programs will teach kids the fundamentals of basketball and the skillsets needed to make it to the next level, but that’s only a small piece of the puzzle! We focus on developing the total athlete Mentally, Athletically, Spiritually, and Socially, with the backbone being Upward’s mission of promoting the discovery of Jesus through sports.

All of these gifts will go toward helping fund kids in our travel basketball program this coming year, providing us with the capability to help fund scholarships, purchase equipment, help cover travel expenses and pay tournament fees for the teams.
