Upstanders Not Bystanders Portraits

Hi there! 

My name is Alisha Martindale and I am a photographer in the New Haven / Hamden / Wallingford area. I will be participating in the 2017 New Haven City Wide Open Studios (my first!) in October with a portrait project called "Upstanders, Not Bystanders". I have an entire  gallery wall that I intend to fill with images and I will be using my upcoming platform to photograph and spotlight 6-8 people in my community who have been nominated by community members as active agents of empowerment, encouragement, and social change.  

I am asking for $800 to cover basic printing and framing costs and whatever is left will be donated to a local organization TBD. After the show at the Armory, it will then temporarily reside at the Metropolitan Business Academy in New Haven to inspire and connect young students with possible mentors and opportunities to get involved in the Upstander's events and organizations.

All images will be go home with their spotlighted subjects at the end of the show. My progress on this project will also be shared here throughout the process.  I thank you for your consideration, future, and continued support of this project.
