Replace Passionate Gamer’s Stolen Games

This is Matt. Matt is an avid, lifelong gamer. His hobby and first love was gaming – board games, miniature games, card games, video games; you name it. He has been playing games since his childhood. Games have served as an anchor for him during rough times, and also as a way to relax, feel joy, and to bond with others. Over the past decade Matt had built up a large collection of very specific games and game expansions. This included miniatures, which he has paid to have painted by a professional artist, special card decks, and games which he had invested in on Kickstarter.com, many of which had rare and unique parts that only a few passionate gamers obtained.

Matt’s passion for gaming means he is involved with multiple gaming groups in our community, bringing to it his innate spirit of kindness and inviting others to partake in the gaming experience with the resources (games, books, accessories) he literally brings to the table. He also attends conventions whenever possible. Matt has religiously attended Blizzcon, a huge convention put on once a year by Blizzard Entertainment, since the year of its origin. Recently in 2016 Matt attended a Board game conference in Indiana called Gen Con, where he connected with many board game creators he deeply respects. Most recently Matt attended a kickstarted event called Valhalla in Fall 2016, where he participated in gaming and strategizing with other passionate gamers.

Matt’s passion for games also takes on the form of supporting others: He has kickstarted multiple projects on kickstarter.com, often for individuals who are very new to creating games and greatly benefit from investment. Matt feels a sense of fulfillment from investing in gaming entrepreneurs. Some of the gaming projects Matt kickstarted include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Board Game; Earthdawn 4th Edition RPG; Warmachine: Tactics (video game); Cthulhu Wars; Rum and Bones; Dark Souls (the board game), Visage(VG), Bloodborne, and many others.

On the night of September 21st, 2016, Matt attended a small gaming group at the home of a good friend. He was there for a few hours, and upon returning to his car to drive home, he noticed that the trunk of his car had been broken into. All of the games in his trunk had been stolen, including board game expansions, miniatures which he had paid to have professionally painted, and unique card games.

Matt was devastated, as he had built up this collection of miniatures and other games over the past 8 years. He filed a police report, and rigorously checked Craigslist, eBay, and attended our local flea market to look for any signs of the thieves trying to sell his games. He was unfortunately not covered by insurance for this loss. The total estimated value of the items is close to $3,000. Please visit the following links for details.
