This is a heartfelt request for help and support of the Kilby Family. Their beautiful 14-year-old daughter Sarah suffers from a rare illness called Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome. SDS is a rare congenital disorder that comes with many health complications one of the most unfortunate is bone marrow failure that eventually leads to leukemia.
Dan and Kate Kilby have been at Boston Children’s Hospital with Sarah since the middle of October. She’s had many tests, blood transfusions, and complications leading up to today (11/8/16) where she is starting aggressive chemotherapy and will undergo a bone marrow transplant on November 17, 2016. She will remain in the hospital for at least another six to eight weeks to complete this intensive, lifesaving event. Once she leaves the hospital, she will remain at home with minimal visitors for nine months.
The Kilby’s are going to have the burden of many expenses including travel back and forth from Boston to their other daughter Leah in Rhode Island, substantial medical expenses, and the inability to work for an unknown but extended period. We want them to be able to focus on family and Sarah, not the many financial worries that are currently looming.
The Kilby’s are a beautiful family and they’ve had the excruciating knowledge of impending leukemia since Sarah was diagnosed with SDS at six years old. Please help to give them some relief NOW during this especially difficult and critical time as Sarah fights for her life.
