Yoga for Impact

Donation protected

As many of you know, it has been a long awaited dream of mine to study yoga and become a certified teacher so that I may share my gifts and knowledge with the world around me as well as what yoga has given to me personally.
An amazing opportunity has been placed in my lap, to again travel to another country (Guatemala this time) to give it another shot! Many of you remember my trip to India many years ago that ended abruptly when I got very sick and had to come home without achieving anything but being well enough to travel home.
It is ever so humbly I ask for your assistance as I try this endeavor in a different way but with many of the same goals.
I have always thought it very important to make sure that you are connecting with the places you travel and not just be a "tourist" taking from the land you travel to and moving on without giving a second thought to the people or economy you have just experienced and benefited from.
This is why this Yoga course caught my eye. A dear friend of mine is one of the teachers who has been able to advocate for my sincerity and goals of spreading the knowledge and giving back to the community.  This organization has  gracefully granted a partial scholarship, which puts this trip in the realm of possibilities for me.
A few amazing things that set this training aside are a focus on integrating the concepts that yoga teaches into the community (both Guatemala and back home) , becoming engaged in local projects that promote sustainability (IMAP described below), as well as participation in permaculture set up.
This program is partnered with the Mesoamerican Permaculture Institute (Instituto Mesoamericano de Permacultura) which is a non-profit organization based in Guatemala. It was founded in 2000 by a group of local people concerned with the serious environmental, social and cultural problems affecting the nation.

This particular trip will be spent in part doing a service project that involves grafting avocado trees in order to provide nutrition for communities that don't have enough to eat. This particular region grows a lot of coffee but are often at a lack of ability to buy food/grow their own!
This brings me to the part where I humbly ask for your help.
I am going to need $1500 for the cost of program (board, food, and excursion fees) and an additional $600 for flight fees.
I have taken up 3 jobs currently to help save for this but I won't be able to make it happen without your help, however small EVERYONE makes a difference in making this a reality for me.
Your contribution will send out a ripple effect for me to continue to do my best to make this world a better place and also gives me a little more confidence that I can reach my goals.
I look forward to someday reading someone else's requests for assistance and being able to give whole heartedly because so many people have believed in me!
Thank you for all your faith and continued support.
