Marsh Oaks Hit and Run
Our Marsh Oaks Neigborhood was stunned this past weekend to learn that four of our friends were brutally taken down by a hit and run. These folks were responsibly walking home from our neigborhood tavern after a pleasant evening of fun and cheer. This is something many of our neigbors do and this is the last thing anyone would expect to happen. All four suffered major injuries, however, Jeff West took the brunt of the hit and had to be resuscitated at the scene. He is currently in critical condition in the ICU at New Hanover Medical Center. They stabilized his internal bleeding through a long surgery on Saturday and will deal with the numerous broken bones as he becomes more stabilized. He has a very long road ahead of him.
This gofundme project is designed for one thing only - to do everything possible to find the perpetrator of this heinous act. The monies raised will primarily fund a reward for any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrator. Any additional funds raised will be given to the three families involved.
I fully expect many other fund raising ventures to arise following this tragedy and it is my hope that this particular project in no way dilutes any future generosity. However, time is of the essence. We cannot let this horrible incident go unanswered.
