This campaign is being run by EMT Stephen Murray and Paramedic Carlye Talmont, two of the rescuers of Blu, an 8 month old puppy, that was pulled out of a burning building.
On Saturday, September 20th, a home in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, caught fire. In the smoke filled bedroom upstairs, Pittsfield firefighter Packard pulled Blu out from under a bed where she was hiding from the flames. Firefighter Kohlenberger carried her from the house, where she was handed over to a paramedic and three EMTs from Action Ambulance Service who were standing by at the fire providing medical support. Blu was unresponsive and struggling to breath on her own. Paramedic Talmont quickly jumped into action, providing mouth to snout rescue breaths and providing oxygen to Blu. Her condition slowly began to improve. EMT Murray called area veterinarians to find out who could take her, and EMTs Doyle and Dondey brought her to Berkshire Veterinary, located on Crane Avenue in Pittsfield. All of this was done free of charge.
Blu is currently in stable condition but is still fighting for her life. Her parents lost everything they owned in the fire and will struggle to pay the ever growing vet bill. We wanted to help out and all funds raised will go to pay for Blu's medical care. Any money raised above what is needed will be donated to the Berkshire Humane Society.
Blu's story has gone viral and because of this positive attention we think it is possible to take care of this for her.
