On Thursday May 2nd, Meredith King was riding her bike through her neighborhood in Brooklyn and hit a pothole, throwing her 25 feet onto the pavement.       Though she was wearing a helmet, she suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury and has been in the ICU since. 

            Her girlfriend Mallory is by her side but this will be a long , hard road to recovery. Both Meredith and Mallory work in the entertainment industry, and many of us understand that no work equals no income.    There are many, many unknowns in their future including how long Meredith will be in the hospital, medical costs, future care needs including at home care &amp; rehabilitation/therapy.       Mer and Mal are two of the kindest, most caring, beautiful humans in the world.

Hello We are Shina and Caroline Novalinga! We are originally from Puvirnituq based in Montreal. 


 


When we heard the recent news of the remains of thousands of children being found at the former Residential Schools, we knew it was a time to grieve and to also give back to our children. Children deserve a happy childhood!!!!! This summer we want to give back to the children of our community located in Puvirnituq, Qc.


We want to provide bikes to promote physical and mental well-being. Our communities are small and the only gym will be closed for the summer.


Families often can't afford new bikes for their children because shipping bikes up north is so costly! So we want to surprise them with new bikes this summer with your help.


Our goal is to provide as many new bikes as we can as soon as possible to children between the age of 5-20. Any donation is helpful and share the message! 


Update about the withdrawal and delivery plan:


Because we raised a lot more than we expected, we will be donating to each community in Nunavik. We will be contacting municipalities from each community (14 of them) in Nunavik. Each municipality has a recreational department that will take care of the funds that we will give by check which will then be used to purchase bikes for the children of the community. All funds will be donated.

BIKE PROJECT for the children of Puvirnituq!

Dos de nuestras familias de Head Start, que vivían en el mismo apartamento en el Bronx, experimentaron un incendio en un edificio de apartamentos hace unas semanas. Las otras familias de nuestro programa Head Start se unieron y donaron algo de ropa para que sus hijos pudieran seguir asistiendo a la escuela, ¡pero lo perdieron todo! Tienen una niña de 5 años (hizo un dibujo de su edificio de apartamentos en llamas) y dos niños de 2 y 3 años. Les han ofrecido un apartamento en un refugio, pero es viejo y sucio y no es el lugar más seguro para criar a sus hijos. Aunque los padres trabajan duro, son inmigrantes, ganan el salario mínimo y no tienen acceso a muchos programas y servicios a los que tienen acceso otras familias. Quieren desesperadamente tener su propio apartamento, pero no ven cómo va a suceder pronto, ya que les llevará meses reunir el dinero necesario para el depósito y 3 meses de alquiler por adelantado. También necesitan algunos artículos esenciales como camas y mantas, y muebles, así como algunos juguetes para los niños. Estamos tratando de recaudar $ 10,000 para ayudar a estas familias a tener un nuevo comienzo para sus maravillosos hijos. Agradecemos cualquier ayuda que pueda ofrecer. ¡Gracias! Two of our Head Start families, who were living in the same apartment in the Bronx, experienced an apartment building fire a few weeks ago. The other families at our Head Start program pulled together and donated some clothes so their children can continue to attend school, but they lost everything! They have a 5 year old girl (she draw the picture of her apartment building on fire), and two boys aged 2 and 3 years old. They have been offered an apartment in a shelter, but it is old and dirty and not the safest place to raise their children. Even though the parents work hard, they are immigrants, they make minimum wage, and they do not have access to many programs and services other families have access to. They desperately want to get their own apartment, but don't see how that is going to happen anytime soon as it will take them months to raise the money needed for the deposit and 3 months rent in advance. They also need some essential items such beds and blankets, and furniture as well as some toys for the children. We are trying to raise $10,000 to help these families get a new start for their wonderful children. We appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you!
