Typhoon Yutu Recovery for CNMI

$8,305 of $10,000 goal

Created October 24, 2018
The worse typhoon in decades has just destroyed the CNMI.   We thank all those who helped in Soudelor Recovery, but we humbly ask  for your help again as Yutu has created even more destruction.  Numbers are just coming in as far as casualties and damage.  Help us hit the ground running to provide much needed food, water, aid and supplies to the people of the CNMI.

The Sons of Saipan is a community group originally formed after Typhoon Soudelor.  We came together as a group of friends, all originally from Saipan and currently living on Guam and eager to help our home island during a disaster.  We coordinated with various community groups in Saipan such as United4Saipan and MYPROS to find out what supplies and materials were needed which was either purchased on Saipan, or on Guam and shipped to Saipan.  We used the donated money to purchase tarps, futons, mosquito coils, medical supplies, food, butane, etc which were then distributed directly to families in need through our partner organizations in Saipan for direct and immediate relief.

We will use the same method for the victims of Super Typhoon Yutu and put your money to work to buy goods and supplies and place them directly in the hands of the families that need it.  We will again post all the purchases on our Facebook page so you will see exactly where your money is going.  We have since established a network with 501c Non-Profits, Shipping Companies, and Various Professional Organizations to efficiently get supplies in the hands of the people on the ground in Saipan that are distributing directly to families in need.

Nathan Torres is a founding member of the Sons of Saipan and is indicated as the beneficiary.  Because he is located on the US mainland, he will be receiving the funds and sending it to us in Guam and Saipan to purchase the recovery supplies.

Please visit our facebook page at  https://www.facebook.com/sonsofsaipan/ for our background and to see who we are and how we work.

Thank you all for your donations! So far we have sent camping tents for the people who lost their homes and chainsaws going to Saipan and Tinian provide access to homes that have been blocked and clearing trees that fell on homes. Please share the link so we can make more purchases. Thank you all for helping our efforts!

Just wanted to say thank you to Harry Simpson for donating $100 cash. Frank Camacho and I were working out logistics and Mr. Simpson came by and heard what we were doing, reached into his wallet and gave us a donation while walking in to get coffee. Thank you for your generosity!

Hello generous donors,

We notice some people apologizing for small donations. However the beauty of this setup is that $5 donation gets combined with other $5 or $10 donations and then there is enough for a chainsaw or a sleeping bag. Times are hard for many and every donation helps no matter the denomination.

Thank you all again for making the sacrifice so that we can support the victims rebuild their lives.

Thank you all that have donated so far. Your generosity will go a long way. We will use this first wave of donations for immediate shelters like camping tents, mosquito nets, Tarps, and sleeping bags. Every little bit helps and once we make the purchases we will post the receipts online to show everyone who donated that their money was put to tangible goods that will help with immediate effect. It may be a band-aid, but there are families in shelves houses without roofs and windows and a simple tent will allow them to sleep a little more soundly considering the circumstances.

We see many familiar names and many new names donating as well. We thank you all for putting your trust in us and we will do what we can to get these goods to the people who need it as soon as possible.

Thank you from all of us and for helping in this time of complete despair and destruction. We can come together from all over the nation and provide a little bit of peace and comfort to the families in our little rock we call home.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
