Tyler's Younglife Service Trip
Hey! My name is Tyler Syphertt and as many of you know, I am involved with a ministry called YoungLife. Young Life is a ministry that starts with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, and building bridges of authentic friendship. Introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith is our mission. We accomplish our mission by logging many hours with kids, where they are, and as they are. We listen to their stories and learn what's important to them because we genuinely care about their joys, triumphs, heartaches and setbacks.We build these personal relationships with them to win the right to be heard and to share the gospel. Loving kids regardless of their responses, origin, or belief system.
Four years ago, I was a highschooler who lived for sex, drugs and significance. Even though thats all I lived for, Younglife Leaders pursued me. Eventually we built genuine relationships, and I was asked to go to Younglife Summer Camp. After that week my life was changed forever! Fast forward to today and now I am a leader for this ministry at Newberry High School in South
Carolina, and hold YoungLife very close to my heart.
This summer, I will have the chance to give high school kids the same opportunity I had to learn about God in an up close and personal way. I have been offered a position at Washington Family Ranch, a YL camp in Antelope, Oregon. This is a huge chance for me to make a difference in the lives of tons of kids from different places and different backgrounds. This opportunity, however, is all volunteering and requires a lot of expenses. This is something I would love to be able to experience, which is why I have started a GoFundMe campaign, a fundraiser for me to earn the money required for this trip.
