The Tulsa Fire Alarm Building located at 1010 E 8th street, was built in 1931 and served as the Tulsa Fire Alarm central dispatching station from 1934 - 1981.
In 2003, the Fire Alarm Building was listed in the National Register. Extensive renovations were completed in 2006 and the building became the home of the American Lung Association. This building will be offered for sale, as of June 2015 and it is our intention to bring Tulsa firefighters back into the building and open the doors to a Tulsa Fire Museum. To do this, we need support.
Funding will be needed for the following:
Purchase of the 6,090 sq. ft. building
Addition of an apparatus building
Installation of an elevator
TFD Diamond T Engine refurbishment
Exterior sculpture and signage
Custom display cases & furnishings
Techniflex Faux Flame (Roadie model)
Educational area for students
Acquisition of historical items
Utilities & ongoing maintenance
Donations are being accepted here; through the Tulsa Community Foundation and at the Tulsa Firefighters Credit Union 9200 E 41st St. Tulsa OK
The main level will display a variety of historical items, inside movable cases. This will allow the space to be rearranged and available to rent for private parties and meetings. At the very center of the main room, we will showcase rotating 3D artwork of interest, that is associated with firefighters or the fire service. The Museum office and one-of-a-kind gift shop, will also be on this level.
The lower level will offer students a unique, interactive educational experience for all ages. The viewing can accommodate 20, and will be used for fire safety instruction, watching videos of firefighting past to present and a Birthday Party rental space. A fire truck cab, slide pole and child size bunker gear will all be available in this area.
