We are raising funds to 1) buy books and supplies for the students in the Tuanan village (Central Kalimantan, Indonesia) for their school (ages 5-12) and 2) expand the school house. Because this is not a government school, they are not provided with resources to buy writing supplies or books for the children or teachers. We helped rebuild this school several years ago but now they need to build a bathroom for the children and second room for the teacher. The teacher for this school does not have his own place to live, and is not from this village. Thus, we are raising funds to build a small teacher's living area so he can stay in the village and bring his family to live here.
The Tuanan Orangutan Research Project and CORE Borneo employ the majority of the parents of these children, and their school is not open consistently because the teacher has to go to his village to visit his family. By building a second room attached to the school, we will be able to bring his family to the village to live.
The school also does not have funds for books or supplies. In the past, CORE Borneo has provided books and writing supplies for the school. We are raising more funds to continue this tradition.
All funds will go directly to the school in June when our Co-director, Erin Vogel, visits the school. The local people of Tuanan sent us this small budget and pictures to help them provide an education for their children. Please help us by donating today! Anything small donation will help us reach our goal!
Budget:
Building and bathroom: $1150
Student books, pens, pencils, white board, misc. supplies: $700
Student uniforms: $150
TOTAL BUDGET: $2000
