Truck Repayment

Donation protected
TL:DR My dealer, Cherokee Auto, sold me a truck without an Emissions test. As such I cannot get my tag and plates. I have been paying on the truck for 7 months and only now has it been repaired. However, they are sticking me with the majority of the bill.

The Story. I purchased my Toyota Tundra '07 from Cherokee Auto in December of 2017. It ran okay but it had lights on they assured me they would fix. Thinking nothing of it, I paid no mind until I went to get my tags and was told there was no emissions test. No test, no tags. So I called and went to Cherokee Auto and was informed my sales person and his manager had been fired for other reasons and my truck never should have been sold. So they thought it would be an easy fix. Of course it wasn't.  This was January of 2018.

After four garages and numerous delays, the truck is repaired. However, along the way, in March, the truck's battery and alternator died. I had to pay the towing to get it to their garage. A bad alternator might have showed up on an emissions report as well, but was willing to pay that portion of it assuming the rest was taken care of. If I had not agreed to that, no work would have been done.

Turns out there was a bad module, some bad wires, and other bad modules that would have failed an emissions test.  Their garage, which they chose, repaired all that. There is an outstanding $1600+ bill and Cherokee says I am responsible for approximately $1200 of this bill, where before I was only responsible for $700. I would have had a hard time paying the $700 and the $1200 is impossible. Right now I am in the midst of changing careers and jobs, paying bills is difficult and paying this bill is not possible. My partner and I need two cars so we can both work and pay for daycare and soon Pre-K.

Family and friends have helped out in the past, but I cannot keep asking them to do so. We need a fresh start. I am happy to do basic house and yard work in exchange for your donations should you wish it.  I am also going to be forced to take legal action against Cherokee Auto as we are too poor to ignore this treatment.  Even a few dollars helps. I know there are those in deep need and I hate having to ask for this help. But right now I am out of options. If nothing else, share this with friends.

Thank you
