Troy's Journey

My very handsome nephew Troy was diagnosed with CP Spastic Quadriplegia at just at 6 months of age. Troy is now 5 years old and completely dependent on a feeding tube, is non verbal and unable to walk (basically immobile). On 3/9/18 Troy underwent a 5.5 hour double hip surgery as well as bilateral heel cord lengthening, hamstrings lengthening & open abductors lengthenings. Both of his legs are in a cast with a bar in place that keeps the legs in abducted position. Troy will need to remain in a cast for approximately 6-7 weeks. The surgery itself went well but unfortunately afterwards, he had to be intubated and sedated for a good 3 days which he spent in the ICU. Troy spent a 7 days in the hospital and is now home.
The next few weeks will be pretty tough on Troy as he has to adjust to being casted and in pain and pretty much unable to do much during this recovery. Troy has already been out of school for 3 weeks and will be kept out of school for a minimum of another 7 weeks. Troy will require around the clock care to provide him with medication manage his pain, monitor the healing of his wounds, make sure he is changing positions as needed to not be uncomfortable and for his recovery, to make sure his cast does not get wet, bathe him, feed him and on and on. Troy does have a sitter who comes Monday thru Friday for a few hours a day, however, with both parents working full time, they are going to need some more hands to help with the other hours in the day & night.
Many of you have asked how they can help Troy & his mom & dad, so I have decided to start this Go Fund Me page for anyone who wishes to donate towards the additional care for Troy.
