Trekking through the Himalayas for Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Breast Cancer now is the UK's largest breast cancer research charity. More women are surviving, but more women are being diagnosed than ever. One in eight women in the UK will be diagnosed with this disease, and every 45 minutes a woman dies.
Breast Cancer Now's main aim is that by 2050, everyone who is diagnosed with Breast Cancer will live.
Last year I found out that I had the BRCA2 mutation, I had gene testing following the deaths of my Great grandmother, Grandmother and mum.
I decided to have preventative surgeries in the form of a double Mastectomy, and a Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy (the removal of my fallopian tubes and ovaries). So that my children wouldn't have to see me go through, what I saw my mum go through.
Since then other members of my family have been tested and also found that they have the mutation. My children will have the test in the future.
On March 27th I will be heading out to India to spend 6 days trekking 5-7 hours a day, through the Himalayas, and camping at night.
I will be raising as much as I can beforehand, by means of charity events, raffles, and any other way I can think of!
Please sponsor me as much or as little as you can afford, every penny helps, and I will be incredibly grateful for anything
