Trek to build a kitchen

We are raising money for Caring Cooks Transylvanian Trek to help fit out a kitchen for their school meals programme. Caring Cooks is a no profit charity with a mission to see all children in Jersey (a small island in south England) eating healthy food to help prevent chronic disease. In Jersey, over 1000 children a day go without a hot cooked meal, we are going to change that together.

Without fitting a kitchen, we cannot reach our goal of getting every child eating a hot nutritious lunch. We need £60,000 to fit out the kitchen, doing the Transylvanian Trek will be a challenging way to get people to fundraise towards this.

‘School meals bring a whole raft of benefits such as the development of social skills and self-esteem as well as peer and adult conversation opportunities. There are lots more secondary benefits such as sharing food and taking responsibility for serving younger children, as addressing potential mental health problems linked to poor diets and obesity, which is increasing rapidly here in Jersey.’
