Liberty and Transportation for All

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Valerie Lefler , and I am President & CEO of Liberty Mobility Now - also known as the "rural uber".

We are the first Mobility as a Service (MaaS) company that focuses on rural and small urban transportation in North America.

We've been featured in The Atlantic , NPR , and The Christian Science Monitor about our model of neighbors helping neighbors and ridesharing.

Liberty is transforming rural communities in months that have faced transportation barriers for decades.

When we were designing Liberty the stories of men and women in rural communities pushed us forward, working countless hours, 20 hour days, and sacrificing time away from our families.

We witnessed Vietnam Veterans who had already sacrificed so much - break down in tears and pound their fists on the table - who lost their sight because they were unable to get transportation to a second opinion from an eye doctor that held the promise that could have saved them from blindness.

We spoke with a young woman with disabilities who walked 6 miles in -10 degree winter weather in the snow along the highway to pick up her antibiotic prescriptions.

We saw the desperation in a woman’s eyes when she was placed in a nursing home in a rural community at the age of 45 after suffering a stroke and all she wanted to do was go to the movies at night and feel normal for a minute again.  She said – “Everyone around me is dying and I am still very much alive.  I am an actress, a free spirt.  I feel like I am in a prison.”

We received a letter from a college student who has had Epilepsy since third grade and now who was afraid to take night classes for fear he would have to walk to classes in the dark and could have a seizure and no one would find him in the dark, and how every time he crosses the four lanes of highway he says a prayer that no one is speeding and does not see him in the road as he cannot walk very fast and is afraid of not being able to dodge out of the way.

We visited with a professional working woman that drives 180 miles 3 days a week to help her mother get to dialysis treatment.  Forcing stress and pressure from home because she has to choose between watching her daughters soccer games and helping her own mother.

These are just a handful of the thousands of stories from men and women that represent the rural mobility challenges in America and undoubtedly across the globe.

If you live or grew up in a rural community, you can relate to many of the stories mentioned above.

Liberty is able to solve each of these challenges in days where barriers have existed for years.

While we received a grant from the US DOT Small Business Innovation Research program to do a beta test for Liberty and market research, it was just the tip of the ice burg of the funding needed to grow the company.

We have launched in 3 states, and plan to expand in at least 4 more in 2017, with another 10 new states in 2018.

We need your help to bridge the gap between today and our future funding.

Our Mission

Transportation underpins every aspect of life – work, healthcare, groceries, education, relationships and more.  At Liberty, we believe that where you live shouldn’t dictate your ability to go places, and keys should not be necessary to enjoy a high quality of life.  We set out to transform lives by improving rural transportation, one area at a time.

Your donation will help us transform lives just by helping us get seniors, young families, and individuals with disabilities where they need to go.

We designed our technology and business model with one goal in mind: Improve quality of life in rural and small urban areas by enhancing transportation.

For example, our smartphone app and call center enable adult children to help their parents get to not only the doctor, but other important places and events without interrupting their busy schedules.

We know that no two rural communities are the same.

Your donations will allow us to expand and help those who have given so much to our country, especially veterans.

Please consider making a donation to help us continue our mission in transforming rural communities one ride at a time.

Rewards
We also have some small tokens of our appreciation for those who invest in Liberty.
