Each candidate can have the % of their contributions from local individuals and organizations posted next to their candidacy.
For example: Jan 1 through Jun 30, 2017 financial report filed by Texas House Rep 150, Valoree Swanson
(a) Rep. Swanson received $29,760 worth of contributions within this time frame.
(b) The AVERAGE contribution was $500.
(c) The MEDIAN contribution was $50.
(d) Contributions from $500 to $10,000 comprised 87.4% of her total contributions.
The individuals and entities donating to Rep. Swanson within this range (top 87.4%) were 0% IN-DISTRICT and 100% OUT-OF-DISTRICT*

We would like to perform this analysis for all candidates in the primaries and general elections that fall within our database. In the interest of efficiency, we are looking to develop this analysis with your support. The analysis above, for a single candidate from a single report, took approximately 1.5 hours. Two years of Rep. Swanson's reports will likely take 6 hours to process. During the primary, she was one of several candidates. One candidate had an extensive financial filing record (the incumbent), and the others had the basic initial filing (1-2 reports per candidate, depending on timeframe). A race like that one would have taken around 10-15 cumulative hours to process.
We are proposing, based on funds, to focus on the most competitive races in the upcoming primary. At a minimum, we will process the data for the most competitive REP and DEM race for a total of approximately 20-30 hours of work. Inflation-adjusted minimum wage from 1968 is $11.57, for the total labor cost of $347. Transaction charges are approximately 3%, costing a total of $358. Any funds in excess of this will focus on the next most competitive races regardless of party affiliation.
Note: in the cases where a physical address (non-PO Box) cannot be determined, we may classify these as "unknown" or "dark" contributions.
