Tottenham Water Test

The purpose of this account is to raise  funds to have a comprehensive water test done on Tottenham water.  The estimated cost is about $3-4K - that is about 200 people @ $20.

What's in Tottenham's water? This question seems to be a part of the age-old debate about our water quality. The Town says the water meets industry standards even though highly carcinogenic Trihalomethanes keep exceeding even these standards. Bromine and Chlorine 10x the average of other municipalities, and Iron leading to staining... These are the known issues that keep some of us up at night.

But with that said, even though we can see these levels which are published on The Town's Website, how can we as residents be sure there are no other chemicals, toxins, pesticides, herbicides or any other substance lurking in the water that can be actively affecting our health both now and in the long-term?

The Tottenham Pit (a.k.a. The Airfield) has also remained a subject of debate and controversy due to the dumping currently taking place on the property. Many residents are concerned about how their water quality has been affected and if perhaps, the testing that has been completed has missed something.

We can keep banging on the Town's doors demanding answers and further testing, we can keep going round and round in circles looking for Ministry intervention, or we can each donate what would be a small contribution for a wealth of knowledge surrounding our water quality and get the results now! We can put this issue to bed or we can take the hard and empirical facts and have them remediated immediately.

I propose the idea to raise enough money to be able to complete comprehensive testing of the water in town. This means that we would be testing for elements and substances well beyond the basic parameters the Town tests within as well as repeat the testing the town has already done to confirm their reporting is accurate and to cross-reference our results.

We will be taking a a water sample straight from the tap of a communal source not from anyone's home or other filtraton.

I propose a $20 donation would quickly raise money so this project can be completed as soon as possible, with results posted 7-9 business days after that.
