Tony Peters, age 8 was diagnosed with Leukemia. While this might seem to deter the mood of any little boy or person for that matter, Tony has perservered. As the quote above, Tony with his faith, family and community has fought this unexpected battle.
Members of Tony's family and the Linn community have united in this tragic situation and found strength and courage within each other and through the unbelievable positive spirit Tony inspires.
Tony attends St. George School in Linn, MO. Recently the teachers have been made aware of the next step with this long battle. Tony will be receiving more treatments and each get stronger and harder on him and his body. The next round of medication will cause him to lose his hair. While this may seem small to some, for an 8 year old boy, looking different from others is not something you look forward to. One member of the St. George School faculty and Linn community has decided to support and encourage Tony through this obstacle he is to face.
Mary Reichart, the Pre-School teacher has decided to join Tony in hair loss. Not only does she plan to have her head shaved, but she wants Tony to do it!
Mary wants to dedicate her action to Tony and his fight. Now while this is motivating, she does not expect others to shave their heads, but simply donate to the cause. She would like to fundraise $5000 from families, friends, community members and all whom this story may inspire. She originally had said she would do it for $1500, but let's challenge ourselves to really dig deep and donate to this little guy and his family!
Let's bond together and challenge the people around us to donate as much as we can for this amazing cause!
We have until January 8, 2016 to raise $5000 for Tony and his family to afford the expenses of his treatment.
Once all funds have been accounted for, we will set a date for the shaving and will plan to photograph and video this action for all to see!
