The Lake Villa VFW and Tom’s brother, Mike Denman, created this fund to help the family with large medical bills and monthly financial obligations, as well as a means of income until they are able to get back on their feet as Tom was the primary source of income. Their daughter, Joanna, has severe medical issues which require over $2000 a month for medication alone to help treat Hashimoto’s encephalopathy which can cause uncontrollable seizures at any time multiple times a day. Tom withdrew his entire 401k to ensure his daughter got the medical assistance necessary a year ago when she needed to be put into an induced coma for 7 days. With his passing, this now leaves the family in a difficult position with no medical insurance to help mitigate these costs. All contributions would be greatly appreciated to help facilitate their financial position during this difficult time in need. Tom dedicated himself to others his entire life, and even after his passing as he donated his organs to ensure others can live. A code in the military is a sacrifice made so that others can live. He lived by this code even after the time he passed. Please help us keep his name living on forever and support this family in their time in need.

Tom Denman served his country in the United States Navy and was a proud veteran of Desert Storm. Tom was a Life Member and current Commander of the Lake Villa Memorial Post 4308. He was the current State VFW Community Activities Director and District Five Chief of Staff and Director. He served as the Fifth District Commander during the 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 years. He was also past Commander of the Antioch VFW Post 4551. Tom dedicated his time selflessly to countless charities and events. His drive and passion to help others stemmed from his upbringing from his amazing father, LeRoy Denman, who passed in 2006. Every aspect of Tom’s life was about giving while sacrificing his own personal gain and his own family’s needs. His mentality was that someone else out there has it far worse than they do and devoted his efforts to fix this. Stretching himself thin across multiple activities Tom devoted his time to the following to just name a few:
• Take a Vet Fishing -Now to be honored in his name
• Scooters for the VA hospital
• Student Veteran Scholarship at CLC
• Shoe Program for kids
• School supplies for kids going back to school that are less fortunate
• Homeless Vets Program
• Easter Program
• Operation Christmas Cheer
• National Home Donation
• Citizen of the Year
• Sale of State calendars for donations toward VFW
• Service Office Red, White and Blue Program
• Bingo
• Veterans Fun Run (Saturday August 25th) all proceeds will be going to Midwest Veterans Closet where veterans shop for free.
• Charity for kids at the Eaton Rapids Michigan
• Community Easter Egg Hunt

Note (If you wish to allocate additional funds to one of the programs Tom was leading please contact the Lake Villa VFW Post and they will get funds posted to the desired destination as this fund is solely dedicated supporting his family as they have limited means of income currently.)
