Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and has been serving the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill Community for over 50 years. Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center was the first Mosque (Masjid) built in North Carolina and thus is the oldest, Muslim community in the state.
Ar-Razzaq Islamic Islamic Center's mission is to assist
the social and religious development of all people, thereby serving the community and humanity as a whole. We fulfill our mission Through a variety of programs and activities including giving to charitable causes and feeding the hungry, hosting interfaith meetings for better understanding, providing cultural and community outreach programs, and other services.
Through our community efforts, we have been committed to exemplifying the true teachings of Al Islam through our work in the Durham community over the last 50 years. Since 1972, Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center has been located at 1009 West Chapel Hill Street in Durham, NC. We have had thousands of Muslims and visitors of all faiths locally and from around the world come through our doors over the last 50 Years. We have established a community for the sake of G-d, which is based upon the light and guidance from the Qur'an and life example of our Messenger (Peace & Blessings Be upon Him), in accordance with the understanding of the best generations of the Muslim community.
The Summer Feeding Program for 2015 fed 2,000 children up to age 18, breakfast and lunch, five days per week. Our services are greatly needed in the community. Our goal is to renovate our building in order to provide more community services.
Progress update: We have now replaced the entire roof on the building and now starting Phase II of the renovation project, see below:
Our building facilities are old and now in need of major repairs. This fundraising campaign of $125,000 is aimed at raising donations to address the three critical building renovation efforts immediately as indicated below by June 2017 (24 month or less project):
1. Replacement of the Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center
building roof (complete replacement)
2. Renovation of the Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center
bathrooms and a new more convenient entrance for
sisters to Musalia )prayer area)
3. Renovation of the Ar-Razzaq Islamic Center foyer
area, tile replacement, and new carpet.
We invite everyone, as individuals, families, masajids, businesses and other institutions to join us in this journey to help renovate the oldest standing mosque in the State of North Carolina.
