Time for Tami
Tami Murray is a lifelong Cache Valley Resident, who a few months ago was diagnosed with B Cell Stage IV non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. This means that the cancer has spread to one or more tissues or organs outside the lymph system, this started in her spine and caused her much pain and suffering, after back surgery to remove some of her spine and “rebuild” it she was able to go home with a wound vac to help vacuum out the infection. Of course there is much more to this terrible disease and it’s complications and challenges but she has accepted these with grace and dignity.
Tami is a simple person who has always given her all to anyone and everyone that was in need, she is one of the hardest working, and most generous, caring people I have ever met. She is kind beyond words and even with all the suffering and pain she has been going through she has still been worrying about friends and family who have either lost a loved one, been sick, gotten married or had babies, to make sure they knew she was thinking about them.
When I asked Tami what I could do for her she just kept saying nothing, My goal was to help Tami in any way I could, I thought maybe the young women in our ward could do some kind of service project for her and her family, Tami just said she was okay she really didn’t need anything. Then on one of my visits with her I discovered that she doesn’t have a shower in her home and it has been extremely difficult let alone unsafe for her to get in and out of the bathtub, here is where this project finally had a goal in sight….They need a shower, this will require the remodel of their bathroom, funds are very tight with everyone these days so imagine when you can’t work because of your illness, (not only Tami but Robert with his back issues/surgeries as well) so they do not have anything extra to put toward this much needed upgrade for their home. If all of our families and friends work together I know this project can help ease the burdens in the Murray’s lives and make it so much more safe and comfortable for Tami.
