GoFundMe to Keep Ticks Off Our Dogs

I am a veterinarian who has been doing volunteer veterinary work at an animal sanctuary in Thailand since January 2015. This sanctuary, Elephant Nature Park, was started initially for elephants but since the floods that ravaged Bangkok in 2011, ENP has rescued and now shelters over 420 dogs at their sanctuary north of Chiang Mai.
This rural area is also home to thousands of ticks. The photo here was taken only 20 minutes after the area was sprayed for ticks.
Ticks in Thailand carry life threatening diseases such as Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, and Neospora. These illnesses can cause fever, bruising blood loss, vomiting, weight loss, paralysis and even death. The cost for treating all of these dogs who are constantly battling ticks on their bodies and the diseases that come with them is astronomical. Often hundreds of ticks are on these poor dogs, despite efforts to keep them off.
The answer is an effective tick repellent on their bodies. The tick spends most of its life attached to the dog. If an effective tick repellent is applied monthly, it can help prevent these terrible tick borne diseases.
The cost of tick repellents like Frontline is also very expensive. The average weight of the dogs at ENP is about 12-15kg. The average cost of this drug is about 8 U.S. Dollars per dose. That's ove 40,000 US dollars per year!
