~ The Elusive Fox Boutique - The Boutique that Gives Back ~
We're opening a new kind of boutique and we'd love to have you join us and help make a difference!
Our store will:
- Support local artists and crafters
- Empower and encourage women through The SKATE Project
- Provide a lounge/support outreach for veterans and caregivers
- Donate proceeds to local charities and non-profit organizations.
We're excited to become a unique boutique that not only offers a wide variety of art, home decor, jewelry, bath & body products, gifts and other one of a kind products from local artisians but also sources out items from surrounding areas that wouldn't normally be available locally.
We're even more excited to give back to our community: 5% from all sales will go towards local charities and non-profit organizations! Each month we will select two charities and post information about them in our store. Each customer that makes a purchase will be able to choose which one the proceeds will go to. Throughout the month we will keep a running tally posted behind the register showing how much has been raised for each, and at the end of each month the donations will be sent and the tally board will be updated with the grand totals. Each new month will bring two new charities!
THE SKATE PROJECT
The SKATE Project is geared towards supporting women to be Strong, Kindhearted, Authentic, Tenacious and Empowered. Through The SKATE Project, we will:
- Feature amazing role models in our community through gallery nights and open house meet-and-greets
- Support and encourage women that have been abused or neglected by providing lists of local resources and collecting donations of clothing, food and other necessities
- Provide a safe, fun and energetic space for women to learn, craft, relax, and rejuvenate together
- Surround artists and crafters that are just starting out with experienced mentors to learn from and collaborate with
THE VETERAN & CAREGIVER OUTREACH PROJECT
This will be the final stage in setting up our storefront. My husband, a 100% disabled veteran, will be running the veteran aspect of this project.
We'll be setting up a separate room within our store as a lounge/game area where veterans can hang out and get to know other vets in a laid back, relaxed atmosphere complete with screens showing the security camera feeds. We believe this to be an essential part of this outreach to ensure that our vets are able to easily view all entrances and exits and what's going on around them at all times for their safety and peace of mind.
We will also be working with other local veteran organizations to bring in experts that can quickly identify the needs of each vet and provide support and resources as needed.
I will be heading the Caregiver aspect of this project. The Elusive Fox will be hosting weekly no pressure get-togethers that will foster new friendships, and we will also promote other organizations and programs in our community that offer caregiver support.
ABOUT THE ELUSIVE FOX BOUTIQUE
The Elusive Fox Boutique was founded in Erie, PA in the summer of 2014 by Rachel Miller. Being the caregiver to my disabled veteran husband and mother to two boys, I rekindled my love of art as an outlet and form of expression. I began with a few mosaics and acrylic paintings sold to friends, family and at local art & craft vendor shows and then gradually began to incorporate other forms of art into my work.
I started creating handmade 5-Free Nail Polish and selling it online in 2015. By 2016 my nail polish brand had reached over 21k followers on Instagram and over 900 members in the Facebook Fan Group. In February of 2018, I rebranded to Elusive Fox Lacquer to better align with The Elusive Fox Boutique image.
THE ART BOOK
As one of the rewards for this campaign, this collection has over 20 glossy pages of full-color artwork; including some pieces that were never released to the public. Several sections will feature my thoughts on a particular painting, how I made them, which ones were my favorites, and other insider information. It's the perfect way to enjoy multiple pieces of art without the hefty price tag!
THE SKATE PROJECT NAIL POLISH COLLECTION
Exclusive, gorgeous colors that were created and named with the help of the Eerie Roller Girls; these polishes will only be available through this campaign. Nail polish might not at first glance seem to fit in with an art-based campaign, but to us creating each color definitely feels like a form of art!
We're proud to be able to say that our nail polish is 5-FREE. 5-Free means that it doesn't contain Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor, Toluene, or DBP (dibutyl phthalate)...which are the top 5 most harmful ingredients in most nail polishes found in drugstores and salons.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
Here is how your contributions to this campaign will be used:
- 1st month's rent and remodeling in the new storefront
- Supplies for making the pledge rewards
- A marketing campaign for The SKATE Project through locally printed t-shirts, bumper stickers and other items
- Local advertising for the veteran/caregiver outreach project and the installation & upkeep of security cameras
A FEW NOTES ON OUR REWARDS

- The Swag Bag will include an assortment of samples/small items from The Elusive Fox Boutique, stickers, magnets, pins, handmade soap from local soap company Dragonfly Lake Scents and various other items, including an official SKATE Project T-Shirt.
Our promise: All items for the swag bags will be carefully curated with the best quality in mind and guided by the survey you'll fill out once the campaign has ended.
- Alcohol ink paintings are included in some of the pledge levels. These will be abstract paintings on canvas similar to the ones shown below but customized based on each backers' color and other preferences guided by the survey filled out once the campaign has ended.
