Help us move to Central Florida

My name is Chris Orsini. I'm a husband, father, podcaster, Multiple Sclerosis ninja and a new IT professional.

Since the beginning of our marriage we have faced many financial struggles due to the cost of living in South Florida and my continuous medical problems. Only one month after our marriage, I got appendicitis and had to have an emergency appendectomy just months before my new job would provide me with health insurance. Year after year I have found myself in the hospital facing one ailment or the other.

Around Easter of 2014, at age 25, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and soon after Fibromyalgia and arthritis in knees and hips. My doctors told me that my career in food service was detrimental to my health and advised me to find a new career. By God's grace, they organization I worked for transferred me to the IT department where I've transition gracefully.

I am now in the process of receiving formal training and certificates but still work in the lower tiers of the industry. For this, I've struggled to make ends meet for my family. We consistently live paycheck to paycheck, sometimes with one meal a day to make sure our son is fully provided for.

Why Central Florida, you ask? There are many reasons. First, since my diagnosis we have been advised to move north. The intense South Florida heat is also detrimental to my health and I have recently been experiencing the first advances in my disease since its diagnosis.
Second, the cost of living is much more affordable. The area we currently live rates well above the national average cost of living while the area we plan to move to rates well below.
Third, we have wonderful, godly friends who live in the area that are willing to help us and get us acclimated in our first major move as a family.
And Fourth, I want to finally be able to provide for my family despite the obstacles I have been faced with.

Why am I asking for help? We have cut as much fat as possible from our budget and still are unable to save enough (or anything really) to make the move. We are in limbo. There are jobs openings that I could apply for but if I get the job, I would have no means to actually take it. We need these funds prepared so I can confidently apply for jobs knowing that I will be able to take them. What I am asking for would cover Uhaul rental and an estimate of first month's rent and security deposit.

Asking for help is hard for me. It's always my last resort. Maybe it's my pride, maybe I feel like I'm not worth the help or that someone else needs it more than I do. I don't really know to be certain but I know that we are called to reach out and ask for help. Anything helps. Even if the finances aren't there, you can always pray for us. It is always an encouragement to know that there is someone out there praying for you.

Thank you. Thank you for just reading this far. We appreciate your prayers and support more than you could ever know.
