Help for Rachel & Joe Jenners

Donation protected

On April 28, 2018 Rachel (Nielson) & Joe Jenners became the proud parents of a new baby boy - Jackson Oliver Jenners! Jackson was delivered healthy but it was as by an emergency C-Section. During labor Rachel was in extreme pain (beyond what was normal) and they immediately had to perform an emergency C-Section, due to a uterus rupture. A ruptured uterus can be a life threatening issue for the baby and mother. This occurs in less than 1% of births with over 50% losing one or both lives.

Within hours Rachel had received over 14 units of blood and was moved via an Emergency transport from Newark-Wayne Hospital to Rochester General Hospital (RGH), where they could provide her the care she desperately needed.  Her condition was extremely grave and Rachel spent the next week in the ICU.  There were many times we were not sure she would survive.

With Rachel's condition being so severe, she wasn't even able to see Jackson or any of her children.  Joe had to then spend his time with Rachel in RGH and driving an hour back to see Jackson, who was still at Newark-Wayne Hospital until his release a few days after delivery.

We are very fortunate that Rachel's condition has improved but she is STILL in the hospital, 21+ days after Jackson's delivery!  She has had even more pain and continued Complications. We are hoping Rachel will be home in the next 10-14 days, as long as her condition improves and no other complications or issues appear.

Throughout this time, Joe has been caring for Jackson around the clock and spending much time by Rachel's side, so he has not been able to work. It has truly put them into a financial hardship. With Rachel being in RGH, he is commuting daily (the hospital is over an hour away from their home), incurring many expenses and doing all he can to ensure both Jackson and Rachel are well taken care of. They have been very fortunate that family has been able to help care for Rachel's boys and Joe continues to travel back to Syracuse to see his other son.

These days, most of the time child is birth is fairly common with limited issues - this case is not. This family has endured an extreme situation, in which we pray no one else ever has to go through.

Upon Rachel's release from the hospital, she will require additional home care with visiting nurses, specialized medical equipment, and all-around help.  While insurance covers some of the expenses, they don't cover it all and this has been an extremely trying on them financially. The medical equipment costs and home care, are extremely expensive, and a majority of the cost is out of pocket.

All funds donated will be used to help with any of the medical expenses around Rachel's hospital stay & recovery/home care , commuting costs and some basic needs for the baby.

If you are able to help, even a small financial contribution would be very much appreciated.  Thank you in advance for your love, support and generosity!
