Get to know us! Here's a little background on our family!
From the time we were in High School, dating at the time, God was preparing our hearts to be receptive and passionate about adoption. We knew people who adopted children, or who had been adopted themselves as children. We even had friends who were not adopted as children and spent far too long in the foster system. The seeds were planted. We felt sure that adoption was in our future.
We got married young (right out of High School) because we were ready and eager to pursue life together. We had a small, affordable wedding at our church with our closest friends and family. Because we were so young we weren't in a place to pursue it as a reality yet. However, one of our first decisions as a married couple was to sponsor 2 children in Zambia, David and Beatrice, who we still sponsor to this day. We have put them through school and provided them with both a classic education and a biblical education. They are both doing well and we get to correspond with them through letters.
After a few years of marriage we felt ready to expand our family, but our age was still a barrier with adoption. We decided to try having biological children while we waited to be eligible to adopt. We were blessed with our two beautiful children; Oliver and Isabelle. Oliver is a sweet, kind, and thoughtful little boy; and Isabelle is an energetic, spunky, and sweet baby girl. We have been blessed beyond our wildest expectations by parenthood. The past few years with our children has only deepened our desire to adopt.
Now we are at an age, and a time in our lives, where we feel that adoption is something our family is ready to actively pursue! We are overjoyed that God has put this on our hearts and we are so excited to finally begin this long-anticipated journey. We have not been paired with a child yet because there are fees required up front, including the home study, which we cannot finance at this time. We know there is a child out there that belongs in our family and we cannot put into words the gratitude we would feel if you would consider being a part of our journey!
We understand that not everyone feels a personal call to adoption, but we can ALL be a part of the effort to give every child a loving family!
Some of the expenses we will be facing include a home study (around $5,000), agency fees (around $20,000), third-party fees for workshops and evaluations, social services, and travel expenses like airfare and lodging (up to 10,000). All of these things stack up fairly quickly. It has been hard for us to make the decision to ask for financial help, but we would need such a large chunk of money in a fairly short time period (about 1 year). We are currently living off a military salary and we budget very tightly. We forgo as many things as we can in our budget, including a smartphone, to make room in it for what really matters. Even so, we find ourselves at a loss to come up with that amount of money in so short a time.
We would be TRULY humbled and INCREDIBLY blessed by any amount of financial support you can offer. Please take whatever time you need to pray about, and consider, whether being a part of our adoption is something you feel led to! Thank you in advance for considering us!
