This is a shout out to anyone that either knows Tony, or have heard his story, and would like to do something good for him and his family…

I’m Scott and went to school with Mr Conway. A few months ago I got chatting with a couple of old mates and we decided we wanted to something to recognise his struggle with ALS.  We want him to know we care and in the process raise awareness and of course some money! That’s when we came up with The Conway 100km Challenge .

This is the ultimate endurance walk. 24 hour continuous challenge from London to Brighton (100km/62 miles) on the 23rd-24th May 2015. This is no walk in the park (see what I did there!) but we wanted a stern test to make it a real challenge, whilst at the same time encourage as many people as possible to take part.

Tony first learned he had the disease back in 2011 and his positivity and fighting spirt has been an inspiration to us all ever since.  He is devoted to his wife Amanda and two gorgeous girls, Cora and Louise.  Although ALS is ever-present and progressing, he won’t let it beat him.

Awareness of ALS has gone through the roof recently with the Ice Bucket Challenge and as a result official charities have benefited massively.  What we want to do here though is raise money directly for Tony and his family.  Any donation will go a long way and is greatly appreciated. Please share this site to encourage others to give and even take part!

Well it’s all over…

BIG THANK YOU to all that sponsored us… we’re closing in our target now so that’s really great news!

To be honest we deserve it. That was the hardest thing I’ve ever done no question about it. There was a failure rate of around 40% this year. 12 out of 13 of us made it across the line so a great effort. Wayne unfortunately picked up an injury at 67km forcing him to stop. Matthew spent an hour with St Johns Ambulance at 80km but carried on and made the distance! The terrain was really tough and certainly hillier that expected!

My story was that I picked up blisters very early on (before 20km) but pushed through and crossed the line in 23hours 56minutes (our times ranged from around 23h45m to nearly 30h). Needless to say it was a seriously painful experience for all concerned!

Here’s a few pics to give you a feel for what all the fuss was about…

An amazing cause and I’d like to think we did Tony proud.

Finally this is a message of thanks from John Conway, Tony’s Dad, on behalf of Pauline, Tony’s Mum and Martin, Tony’s brother…

Thank you so much for organizing the Conway 100k Walk this weekend; we know that Amanda appreciates all you are doing on behalf of Cora, Louise and of course, Tony. We are aware that Tony will never be far from your thoughts during those long, blistering miles, but please know that all of you will be especially in our thoughts this weekend too. As Tony would say "You Never Walked Alone".

Thanks again everyone!
Scott B.
