The Walker Adoption Fund
As early as college, Amy and Josh have had a spot in their heart for adopting a child. Their original plan was to wait five years and then start a family naturally and then adopt children. After a few years of trying to start a family of their own, they realized they needed to explore other options.
In the fall of 2012, a doctor told them Amy was dealing with infertility. In the winter of 2016, Amy had a surgery to address her endometriosis, a condition the doctor said was making her body a hostile environment that prevented her from having a baby. Both Amy and Josh underwent tests and more to try and discover why they couldn’t have a child. Unfortunately, answers continued to evade them.
After nearly 10 years of marriage, they decided to pursue adoption, though the wait lists for adoption were sometimes into multiple years. To fulfill their desire to help children immediately and start a family, Amy and Josh decided to foster children in need and completed all the Indiana fostering classes. Their last remaining step to foster a child was a home study, which they’d decided to have completed after the Christmas holiday season.
This all changed when Amy unexpectedly received a call on Wednesday, December 7th. The caller was one of her best friends who has been the director of a pregnancy center in Florida for two years. A female inmate in one of the local jails asked the center to find a family for her unborn baby, saying she wanted to do a direct adoption with the right family.
In less than 48 hours, Amy and Josh went from not expecting a child at all to having a confirmed birth mother with a baby due in mid January of 2017. Where most families have nine months to prepare mentally and financially, they have just a few weeks. They will be traveling to meet the birth mother after Christmas, and then returning for the birth of the baby in January.
The total cost of the adoption and expenses will $20,000. Amy and Josh only have a few weeks to come up with $20,000 that they weren’t prepared for. Anything you give will be greatly appreciated as this will help Amy and Josh cover expenses to fulfill a need and answer a prayer of more than seven years.
If you are able, a gift toward their adopted child will go incredibly far to help offset the unexpected costs associated with home studies, adoption agency fees, attorney fees, and hospital expenses for the baby.
Amy and Josh weren't anticipating having a newborn baby in such a short time and they're doing everything in their power to make it work. Your gift, of any amount, will enable them to start the family they’ve wanted for nearly a decade and give a newborn child a loving and healthy home.
Please consider a gift this holiday season to help make a dream come true.
Hope weighs more than I can carry. We're in disbelief. However, our faith is not shaken. I have not the faintest idea how God works, but I believe he does in imperceptible, unfathomable ways. God is good. The kindness and generosity of people are spiritual acts themselves. I'm not sure we could've gotten through the ups and downs without the support and love from our friends and family--even strangers. Thanks to all of you who walked through this with us.
We will take some time, but we fully intend to pursue adoption in the future. Right now, however, our thoughts are with the little baby girl who, although no longer a possible part of our family, will be loved, thought of and prayed for."
If anyone wants to request their money back, please feel free to private message me and I will let the Walkers know. They have been blessed by the out pouring of support and they want you to know that any funds that are left will be used to pursue starting a family either through adoption or fertility. We do ask that if you do request the money back, you do so by January 30th.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being a part of a difficult story. We pray that God opens a door through this experience and that Josh and Amy can become parents soon.
URGENT Update & Prayer Request…
Due to some turn of events in recent days and hours, we are asking that all of you who know and love Amy and Josh, and who have been so incredibly supportive, to please stop what you were doing THIS VERY HOUR and PRAY. There are more questions than answers at this point, and we hope to provide another update soon.
While we await final news regarding the adoption, Amy and Josh have been informed that this baby (born in the last day or so) may not be coming home to them, by no fault of their own. We are deeply concerned; and praying for fairness, truth, and a beautiful closing to this very long journey. Decisions are being made now, so your prayers are an immediate need. We know God is in control, and we are trusting and hoping.
Please lift up Amy and Josh in prayer along with the baby, the birth mother, and all individuals involved. Thank you, beloved family and friends!
They found out recently that they are having a GIRL!!!! Let's bring this sweet girl home!!
I am a TOTAL stranger who is expecting our 7th child. i literally googled my first name, Amy, and adoption and Christian. Your story was basically the only one who fit. :) The Lord put it on my heart to not receive any gifts for this baby. Instead, I had planned on asking my friends to give to a local Womens Resource Center here in Jacksonville, Florida. But the idea for my google search came to mind this morning and after reading your story, I was curious if you and your husband are still planning on going through with the adoption? I hope you don't mind me being so nosy considering you don'y know me at all. But your story touched my heart and brought me to tears and if you are still raising money , I will ask my friends to donate to you (in lieu of a gift for me). I will also pray for you to one day get your special blessing. God Bless You, Amy Frazer
Use our gift for whichever avenue you choose.
Keep it for God's timing.
God Bless You Guys and his blessing carry you through forever
