I'm from Ilene Street and I have been your main DJ for the past 3 years, I'm that lady in Purple!
The 8 Mile Reunion Picnic has been a staple in the community for 18 years. It has grown to a point where the city feels it is a large event that needs to be structured and organized. This is the 1st year we have to pay for the permit to operate or we will not be able to have the event. The permit fee is $1,500 and if we get more than that it will cover any other incidentals we may need and also supportive things such as kids backpacks and supplies to clean up and help the community.
THIS EVENT IS STILL VERY MUCH AT RISK OF NOT HAPPENING!
The deadline to donate for the permit is June 30, 2018. As long as we reach the amount, we have people who will pay by the deadline and collect from gofundme later.
NO MATTER WHAT, WE HAVE TO COLLECT AT LEAST THE PERMIT FEE BY JUNE 30, NO EXCEPTIONS!
Let's not complain about the new rules, let's handle it in a business manner so we can continue this awesome event. It does need some structure so we can appreciate the City for helping us do that. Please share and spread the word and for those who can't do a donation this way, we will have a bank account you can deposit it. We are all united for this. We have to be a team to keep this going!
