The Gift of Time - in honor of Jay

On July 1, 2017, our son Jay was stillborn for reasons unknown.  He was 9 lb 7 oz of perfection.  We didn’t have much time with him because a stillborn baby’s body deteriorates very quickly after birth without any type of cooling.  At the time of Jay’s birth, our hospital did not have any device that could keep him cool enough to preserve him for a little longer.

We want to change that.  

There is a device made in the UK called The Cuddle Cot.  The cot has a thin mattress which is filled with cold water and then connected to a cooling unit which is plugged in, keeping the mattress constantly cold. The blanket can also be taken out and moved into a different cot or surface if the parents wish.  The cooling device preserves a stillborn baby’s body in a bassinet or crib so that he or she can remain up to five days in a hospital room, extending the time a family has to photograph the infant, sing to it, take its measurements or show it to loved ones.

For Jay’s first birthday, we want to give a priceless gift to other families - the gift of time.
