Thatcher 4 Commissioner of Revenue

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Seth Thatcher.  I am seeking the elective office of Commissioner of the Revenue for Frederick County, Virginia.  The primary election will be held April 30th, 2019 (4-8pm).  The voting location is still being decided.  Please consider donating to my political campaign to help me serve the residents of our county!

Here is why I believe I am the most qualified candidate running for Commissioner of the Revenue and why I humbly request your support, your donation, and your vote this April and then again in November

Experience
I have spent 12 years working for the current Commissioner of the Revenue Ellen E. Murphy, first as a Residential Real Estate Assessor and then for the last five years as the Commercial Real Estate Assessor.  Furthermore, Ellen has  endorsed me to replace her as Commissioner.  I am deeply humbled by her support!  Ellen is one of the most respected Commissioners in Virginia; she is a resource to her peers, and has developed and taught classes that relate to our work.  Thank you for your service Ellen and thank you for your endorsement!

Education
In 1995 I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Towson State University (now Towson University) and in 2016 I received the Master Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue certification from the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia.  This certification requires job experience, classroom instruction, and professional involvement in related groups.  Through the process of getting certified, I have been trained in Real Property Appraisal, Personal Property Appraisal, Business Property Appraisal and the Code of Virginia as it pertains to the functions of the constitutional office of Commissioner of the Revenue.

Professional
I am a licensed residential real estate appraiser in good standing with the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) in Virginia.  And I have served as President and Vice President of the West Central Deputy Commissioners of the Revenue Association (WCDCORA) which creates learning opportunities in our line of work.

Elective
In 2015 I was elected to represent the Opequon District of Frederick County on the Frederick County School Board (FCSB). I took office in 2016, and in 2017, and then again in 2018, I was unanimously elected Vice Chairman of the FCSB by its seven member panel.  In 2016, my first year in office, I was awarded Advocate of the Year by the Valley Region of the Virginia School Board Association (VSBA) for advocacy with members of the Virginia General Assembly on school related issues.  It has been my honor to serve the citizens of Frederick County in this capacity.

Civic
I was a member of the Winchester Kiwanis Club for a decade from (2001 - 2011).  Currently, I am Co-Secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Old Town (Winchester) and have been a member since 2014.  I am also Chairman of the Salvation Army of Winchester board of directors since 2016.

Please consider donating to my campaign for Commissioner of the Revenue.

I have the right experience, qualifications, knowledge, and temperament to serve the residents of Frederick County well.  Thank you! Please consider donating to my campaign for Commissioner of the Revenue.
