For almost sixteen amazing years I have been an employee of Shambhala (International), starting in the Shambhala Office of Finance and Development and then moving to Shambhala Media. It is tremendously rewarding and fulfiling work, which provides many opportunities for practice and holding your seat. I am fortunate and honoured to be of service to the Sakyong, Shambhala, and our precious community.
But alas, everything changes. And it appears that the time has come for a big change; as of July 31 I will no longer be employed with Shambhala. I am taking a leap and and starting a virtual bookkeeping business. It is a new era, which is scary and exciting!
I started this GoFundMe campaign with the hope that you might help me in this new endeavour. After I leave my position with Shambhala at the end of July, I plan to take three weeks off and then travel to France to attend a Shambhala program. Once I return from France in early September, I will take a ten-week online course on the virtual aspect of starting a virtual bookkeeping business. Once that course is complete, I will launch my new business venture. To help accomplish this, I hope to raise at least $12,500 to buy equipment and to help with living expenses while I take the course and for the first few months while building up my new business. If I am incredibly fortunate and raise more then $12,500, the additional funds will go towards a Registered Retirement Savings Plan.
