Firefighters and Emergency Responders are putting their lives on the line to protect the people and communities of Gatlinburg and all throughout East Tennessee.
Many of these firefighters are volunteers. These local heroes gives their time for free to protect people and their property from harm or damage. Their departments operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
These departments and local charities will need much funding to help injured first responders and rebuilding efforts in the community. They will also need funds to send members to attend training schools, such as EMT and fire specialty training.
We are asking for the public’s help to outfit firefighters in the wake of this horrific disaster. Our goal is to raise $25,000 dollars to support their efforts.
I have contacted the Gatlinburg Fire Department at http://www.gatlinburgfire.org/ and spoken to the Treasurer for the Gatlinburg Firefighter's Association.
