We are raising money to cover the medical costs for Lisa to get infusions for her cancer treatments for 2018.
Lisa Engelke, wife, mother of two young children, and business owner, was diagnosed in Feb 2015, at the young age of 35, with Stage II Breast Cancer. Tests confirmed more specifically that it was Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), a type that does not respond to surgery, chemotherapy or radiation with very promising statistics. This type is classified as being very aggressive and having a high recurrence rate in young women. Chemotherapy and radiation were still recommended and are not covered by her insurance.
In April 2015, Lisa had a single mastectomy with 3 lymph nodes removed and an attempted reconstruction. The reconstructive surgery brought too many complications and many more surgeries throughout the year. It was an unsuccessful attempt and rescheduled for almost one year later. Just before the surgery in Feb 2016, a new lump came back as positive for lymph node recurrence of TNBC. It was also removed, along with a large mass that had spread into the surrounding muscle tissue, leaving her with chronic pain, lymphedema and many other complications and now Stage IV.
When Lisa was first diagnosed in 2015, she heard about Namaste Health Center in CO from her friend Ivelisse Page. Ivelisse is a young Stage IV colon cancer survivor who also used diet modification, supplementation, mistletoe injections and faith. She was also told she had a very small statistical percentage of success with chemo and radiation.
Ivelisse, who founded the Believe Big Foundation, recommended that Lisa contact Dr Peter Hinderberger (Roscombe Mansion, Baltimore) and Namaste Health Center in CO. Lisa started mistletoe injections under the care of Dr Hinderberger and became a “long-distance patient” with a Naturopathic Oncologist at Namaste. Namaste has an integrative approach to treating the “terrain” of the patient so that the body’s immune system can fight disease.
Mistletoe is very effective when used along side other modalities such as acupuncture, Reiki, coffee enemas, hydrotherapy and a ketogenic diet to help to potentiate the mistletoe therapy. Lisa continues this treatment at home, monitored by her team of doctors and all treatments and therapies continue to be 100% out-of-pocket.
Her latest scan shows that the treatments are slowing down the growth! But is still not 100% clear...
After these last few years of infections, hospitilizations, an autoimmune diagnosis, a very taxed immune system and reconstructive surgery, Lisa has been building back strength.
The next step…more Mistletoe and high dose vitamin C infusions! Namaste has partnered with GW - Center for Integrative Medicine so that local Maryland patients have a place to go for a “boost”. Lisa needs to travel to DC for infusions once a week, however they’ve just lost their family car to unrepairable damages, leaving them with no options for her to get to treatments or out and about for things that they need.

During the 2015-2016 years, the community came together in so many beautiful ways and raised $12,629 towards Lisa’s treatments, medications, supplies, appointments and childcare. This also included the trip to Durango, CO at Namaste Health Center for a two week mistletoe IV intensive treatment after her last hospitalization in July 2016. Lisa was also able to document and share her journey through her Facebook page.
