Hello,
My name is Robert Stephens and I am an organizer. I have been in Ferguson, MO New York City, and Durham, NC organizing against police brutality and under the guise of Black Lives Matter.
Maryland is the wealthiest state in the United States of America. Yet, 50 years after President Lyndon Johnson launched the War on Poverty, one in every 10 Marylanders lives below the federal poverty line – almost 575,000 individuals. There is still an incredible amount of work that needs to be done. With all eyes on Baltimore, due to the death of Fredie Gray, are we critiquing the system that created the unconscionable poverty. Baltimore is unlike Ferguson, the city leaders are African-American, the police force is comprised of half people of color, yet we see a tale of two cities. As I walk through the streets of Baltimore I see dilapidated houses, Freddie's neighborhood, once housed Thurgood Marshall and Cab Callaway, now it is the place that sends the most people into the prison system in Maryland. We need your help. Our kids deserve better!
I am raising money to feed the children of Baltimore and provide toiletries for the senior citizens. We will be at the intersection of North Ave and Pennsylvania in Baltimore giving out food to the children and providing toiletries (sanitary pads, toilet tissue, tooth brush, tooth paste, soap and deoderant) to senior citizens in the senior living apartments. Please donate today.
