Join Joanie to Crush Cancer

On January 23, our dear friend, Joanie, began her battle against a rare form of cancer found in her sinuses while also dealing with an unexpected career change from the previous day. Joanie is a firm believer in everything being part of God’s plan and the significance of that day is a true example of His plan.


Joanie went through a very rigorous chemotherapy regimen that included twenty-eight treatments and three emergency hospital stays over the course of three months. On June 22 Joanie and her family received the news that she was cancer-free, only to find out during a routine checkup on August 1 that the cancer was back.  While Joanie had found a new place to share her many gifts with students through teaching, unfortunately, her diagnosis left her unable to work and without income.


Joanie checked herself into the Cleveland Clinic on September 19 to begin treatment as an inpatient with a very high intensity chemotherapy that will be used to officially crush cancer through treatments. This high potency chemotherapy required a bone marrow transplant and a hospital of stay of three weeks.
