Give to Nepal - Earthquake Relief

My name is Niraj Sharma.  As soon as I learned of the earthquake in my home country of Nepal, I felt a strong desire to help in any way possible.  At the same time, many people contacted me asking “How can I help?”  After talking with my friends, professional colleagues and family, I have determined that the best thing I can do is to raise money to buy food, water, clothing, shelter, medical supplies and other necessities for victims of earthquake.


As many of you know, the earthquake in Nepal has affected almost 8 million people, 1.4 million of which are in need of basic necessities of life. The death toll as of this writing stands at 5,200 and is certain to rise.  The time to help the earthquake victims is now.


In the two decades I have lived in the United States, I have been in awe at the generosity of Americans in times of need.  If you are wondering how to help the people of Nepal, please consider a contribution to this Go Fund Me campaign.  My commitment is simple – I will work to make sure the money you donate will go directly to acquiring critical necessities for the Nepal earthquake victims.

I was born in Rajbiraj, Nepal, about 180 miles southeast of Kathmandu.  I came to the United States when I was 14 to attend school.  After high school, I received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.  For the past eleven years I have been employed as an I.T. professional at Otterbein.  I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to live in the U.S. and am a firm believer in returning the favor. Community service is an important part of my life.  I have volunteered as a volleyball coach for St. Paul’s School, Westerville South High School as well as the Westerville Special Olympics.  I love working with kids and believe they are the future! I was also one of the featured guest speakers during Rotary World Peace Day hosted by Rotary Club of Westerville and have also served the Otterbein Alumni Association.
