Nepal Earthquake Support

£2,550 of £5,000 goal

Raised by 57 people in 52 months
On 25th April, 2015, Nepal has been seriously devastated by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake. The government of Nepal has declared a state of emergency. Already over 2,000 people have been pronounced dead with thousands of additional injured. Many homes as well as cultural and religious heritage sites have been destroyed. Many people have been displaced due to the destruction and continuing tremors. Immediate relief will entail search and rescue, medical care, food, water, and shelter. While the destruction in Kathmandu has been clearly visible in photographs that have circulated on the Internet, many rural areas have been similarly affected, where there is urgent need for rescue and relief.

I am a Volunteers for Nepal Scotland Friendship Forum (NSFF), a registered charitable organisation
(SC042759) and would like to  request your generous support. Volunteers of NSFF, mostly members of small Nepali community here in Tayside Scotland are actively involved in raising fund to send back to through agencies which is actively involved in bringing relief on the ground both inside and outside the capital. We seek help from the local Scottish community to aid the immediate relief and long-term rebuilding effort to overcome the effects of this tragic earthquake.

Hi everyone,
With much gratitude for your support, this is to update you on the Nepal Earthquake Support fund.

On behalf of NSFF, last week I sent 1500 pounds to Society of Ex-Budhanilkantha Students, a registered non-governmental organization that has been at the forefront of distributing relief materials, mainly in the remote districts of Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha. Updates on all of SEBS activities in the aftermath of the earthquakes in Nepal are listed here ( https://www.facebook.com/sebsonline). The links they have for other ongoing fundraising is here ( https://sebs.esewa.com.np/). Updates on how your donations were used will be made here as soon as I hear back from SEBS.

100 pounds was sent to Nikita Bajracharya (NSFF member) working for Panchakanya Group in Nepal, which requested funds for two water tanks to serve clean water to some of the 750 households affected in Bungmati. Two water tanks were promptly delivered on 14th May 2015.

Many thanks to all the off-line donors (College of Life Sciences, Dundee: 425 pounds in total; MRC Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, Glasgow: 450 pounds and the generous public of Dundee who donated to NSFF fundraising appeal: 826 pounds)

I will keep updating you on how more funds will be sent to Nepal and be used in due course.

Many thanks,

Sheela

The true picture of the devastation caused by the 25th April earthquake in Nepal is emerging to be extremely devastating. More than 7000 lives have been lost but many more are likely to have lost. Tens of thousands are injured. More than 130,000 homes have been destroyed.

The support from individuals, aid agencies and nations around the world has been tremendous so far. Given the magnitude of the need for immediate relief and subsequent rebuilding of lives, any generosity will go a long way in helping the victims with their urgent basic needs.

I have now been in touch with aid agencies working on the ground to provide food, tents and medical supplies. They urgently need any support we can provide.

I have been humbled by the support of so many of you that have contributed so generously. For those of you still wishing to donate, please do so. Any amount you donate is greatly appreciated. I will start disbursing your donations to the aid agencies working on the ground by the end of this week and update you on their progress.

I will continue with my fund raising efforts.

I am doing this on behalf of Nepal Scotland Friendship Forum (NSFF), a registered charitable organization (SC042759).
