Youth Empowerment w/ Digital Media

Digital media has become one of the main ways in which we interact and communicate with the population. Businesses, schools and almost all organizations use digital media to create awareness or get important information out to the people. This creates an exciting opportunity to introduce various forms of digital media such as video production, website development with CMS (content management systems) and social media skills.

We plan on creating a exciting 4 day digital media workshop twice a month(12 youth per month) for the months of June, July August for a total of 36 youth taking part in the workshops. Topics include:
1. Content gathering - Graphics and text, pdf's, video , external links.
2. Basic Video Production
3. Website Develop with WordPress
4. Social Media – Creating – Covers, Profile photo, Post displays

At the end of this workshop, participants will have created:
1. Video for Vimeo
2. Website with WordPress
3. Social Media accounts

Participants will learn the basics of capturing video and editing video clips. Youth will also create social media graphics for Facebook,Twitter and Pintrest. Lastly, the youth will integrate content into a WordPress theme.

$10.000 will provide:
3 laptops (1MacbookPro , 2Windows)
A location + technical resources
Digital Media Technician for 30 days
Lunch and snacks

The youth will continue to have access to these recourse for future worthwhile projects.
