Who and where I am
Hey! I'm Amèl, 15 years and from Amsterdam. A few months ago, I moved to Paris. Here I go to the International School of Paris, where I participate in a social/humanitarian project called the Sustainable Development Project.
A safe place to sleep and learn for Namibian students.
The Sustainable Development Project is a project that our school organizes each year. This year we will go be going to Namibia with 17 students to do volunteer work for 3 weeks. We will use this time to build a dormitory for a boarding school. The locals will help and guide us during this project. Our school has had contact with the school, and their Board of Direction has expressed the immediate need for more places for the children to sleep and study. Also, we will be teaching primary school students as well as the local community.
Supplies, supplies, supplies.
As we cannot build anything without materials, we need to collect money to buy the supplies this Namibian school so desperately needs. Therefore, our school has set an aim for each and every student to raise money. We need a lot but it is very necessary!
I just need a little bit of help!
Raising such an amount demands considerable effort, especially when you are in a strange city where you don't speak the language fluently. Luckily, I am not intending to just sit around and ask for money. So, during the last months, I tried to raise as much money as I could by babysitting, dog walking, baking sales, doing chores for the community, etc. Unfortunatly, we now need more money, due to the high costs of building the dormitory.
Help me helping.
Here comes the part where I ask for your help. I’m not sure I’ll be able to reach such an amount all by myself. So, if you want to help to provide a safe place to sleep and study for some Namibian students, without going through the trouble of getting up in an airplane to Namibia yourself, here is your window! As I will be going for you. The deadline to collect the money is on the first of April. I would really appreciate it if you could help me sponsor this trip where I can make a difference for a few of these kids.
