Dopey Needs Surgery/Spirit's Eye

Two major surgical needs are coming to Wild Hearts for help and we need you to rally behind these two horses to see they get what they need.

*Spirit recieved care and has the rest of his care for his eye covered by half of this campaign. We, so far, are well on our way to SAVING his eye! It improved, so several procedures to keep his eye closed while the nerve damage heals as much as possible have been going well.

Spirit is an 8 year old QH with a neurological injury that has paralyzed half his face. The result is the need to remove his left eye, as it cannot be properly protected and lubricated by his damaged eyelids, and it has become ulcerated and sunken. He sees the chiropractor and will get any therapies suggested to stimulate and heal the nerves in his face. It is unknown how he became injured but we expect it's that his halter was left on while turned out or penned. It's consistent with a set back with a halter caught or tied, injuring the facial nerves at the poll. He is a sweet and athletic young horse who has adjusted to being blind on one side. His surgery estimate is $800-1100 at Adobe Vet center.

Dopey is a 10 year old horse owned by a wonderful family who cannot obtain surgery for his cancer, which has affected his penis and led to the necessity of amputation. Our horse Crow had this surgery years ago and is comfortable and happy. We hope to achieve the second for Dopey. His surgery is $2500-3000 at Arizona Equine in Gilbert AZ.
