Kinkonauts 26 hour Improv Marathon

Keep Improv Contained and Off the Street

Humans fear many things…spiders, heights, public speaking. Many would scarcely DREAM of performing for a live audience...for as many hours as there are miles in a marathon!

On February 19th & 20th, 2016, the Kinkonauts will bravely provide 26 sleepless hours of live performance with a different show every hour. This comedic descent into sleep-deprived hilarity will be 100% free to view for any audience member. Heavily-caffeinated performers will seek sponsorship for each hour of the marathon.

Where will funds go?
All funds raised will go to supporting the Kinkonauts improv stomping ground and performance space "The Lab".

Sick of having unwieldy improvisors making up inappropriate songs during your baby's baptism? Then help sponsor "The Lab", one of Calgary's few improv containment centres where improvisors are free to rap about turnips without ruining anyone's wedding.

All other funds will go to brining improv talent and teachers to Calgary, supporting and further developing Calgary's exploding comedy scene.  Think "Improvised Shakespeare" is amazing? Imagine it done by someone with a New York accent!

Prizes
Donate to the Kinkonauts and you  will have the opportunity to win prizes from our corporate sponsors, including a flight for two to anywhere WestJet flies.

About the Kinkonauts

We are Calgary’s Improv Lab: a longform improvisational theatre troupe based in in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We take up residence on top floor of a movie poster shop (The building on 16th that has KING KONG hanging off of it!) and are comprised of more than 40 improvisors and numerous troupes dedicated to creating emotional, grotesque and profound play-skits and make-em-ups.

The Kinkonauts use the art of improv to create new artistic theatrical experiences, and as a teaching tool to introduce people to a positive approach to human collaboration and interaction. This benefits people from all walks of life, from the artist, to the CEO, to the English-as-a-second-language student.

Each performance is a once-in-a-lifetime theatrical event. The audience provides the Kinkonauts with the imaginative material for on-the-spot improvised theatre. Nothing is planned. Relationships are sweetly or tragically transformed. Worlds are created or destroyed.
