Support to Families of Abdalla and Feisal

Abdalla and Feisal were inseparable. They were having lunch when they were taken from us in a senseless terrorist attack in Dusit/14 Riverside in Nairobi on Tuesday, 15th January 2019.
Abdalla Dahir was only 33 when his life was cut short – he was a
talented photographer and storyteller who made it his mission to change the world’s perception of Somalia. You can read one of his articles here .
Abdalla was fiercely protective of those he loved and never understood violence. He was a loyal and gentle soul. His laughter would fill a room. Abdalla was married and leaves behind a young wife, mother and several younger brothers and sisters.
Feisal Ahmed was only 31 and was just starting a family, his wife is seven months pregnant. He was compassionate, calm and genial. His inquisitive mind has been crucial in understanding how Somalia can develop into the country he and Abdalla longed for. Feisal leaves behind a young wife. When Feisal got married, he wondered why he hadn't sooner because he realised how beautiful companionship is.
Both Abdalla and Feisal loved their families dearly. They also supported them financially. They would be heartbroken to think of them uncared for.
That is why to honour their memory we want to ensure their families are cared for. With this fundraiser, we would like to lighten the burden of both their families at this time of incredible tragedy and grief. All money will be split equally between both families and care for their wives, unborn children, parents and siblings.
We are truly privileged to have known both Abdalla and Feisal, to learn from them, laugh with them and share their friendship. They were kind-hearted, dedicated and left us far too young.
We will make it our mission to keep their memories and names alive as we continue their work to make Somalia a better place. As Abdalla wrote in 2016: “We need policies that support the families left behind by the fallen - the unsung heroes.”
